Live in the now!
I’m not a big fan of this one-liner, I find it vague. But often I read something and think, well that is living in the now.
From now on during every meal, every time you walk down stairs, wait for a traffic light or open the curtains, and this very moment remind yourself what you are in direct control of. It is the choices that you make, not the when the light turns green, not what the other people around you do. Also, you can’t control your past and your future. Do not let yourself be disturbed by what you can’t control, focus on the choices you can make. It is a relieve when you realise that you don’t have to worry about all those millions of things that you can’t control. It will make your life easier and you can spend more energy on your choices.
Learn to distinguish what you have control over and what you have not. Focus on the choices that you have. Accept what comes from the uncontrollable. Even if it makes you fell sad or angry, just feel sad and angry, but don’t let it overpower your will power to make the next choices. That is living in the now.
